* Name: Amarinda * Species: Human Age: 25 * Gender: Female * Alignment: Alinor * Homeland: Kitar-Ku Position: Princess
Weapons: She carries a slender, black-leather-handled rapier under her skirts at all times, no matter how uncomfortable that might be. It was handmade for her by the best smith in Alinor and fits the contours of her hand as well as any glove. When wearing trousers (rare, but she has been known to do it) she wears it in an unassuming black leather sheath on her belt. * Personality: Amarinda, fondly called Rinda by her elder brother Roald, is very much a spitfire. While she is able to keep her emotions hidden remarkably well, she has an unsurpassable temper that makes her seem as touchy as an angry lioness. She has a brilliant political mind, which helps her brother greatly, now more than ever. When Rinda loves, she loves fiercely and will not stand for anything bad to happen to the adored one in question. She has been known to slice heads off for such people, after all… * Appearance: While Amarinda is certainly no goddess when beauty is concerned, she is by no means unattractive. She is quite comely, in fact, and, standing at a full height of 5'8 she is able to see most people eye to eye. Speaking of eyes, hers are a beguiling cerulean, with pupils as dark as the night sky. Her face is oval-shaped, with a small, dainty chin, high cheekbones, and a high forehead. Her skin, having been spared the duty of working in the field like a commoner, is a fair peach color, often bedecked by a glorious assortment of glittering jewelry in everything from gold to garnet. To show her high status, she is usually never found without some sort of crown or other on her head. Her hair is several shades lighter than her brothers—a soft, oak-brown, it's long, luxurious length falls to a place not quite to her breasts but far past her shoulders. Her hair is akin to the weather—always changing and never, ever the same if she can help it. Her brown brows are thick and expressive, always being raised and lowered to convey her feelings…if she deigns to show those feelings, of course.
She is often seen in princess-y gowns in various colors—she's been gravitating towards the darker colors lately, however, just like her elder brother. History:
Only 4 years younger than her brother, the Princess of Alinor was the last child and only daughter of one of the richest border lords in the country. Although her birth ultimately caused her mother Neassa's death (hers was a hard birth, and it weakened her mother so much that she couldn't take the pain of delivering a third child and died some time later), her father and then her brother both pampered her to the level of royalty even before she donned the crown. Like her sibling, she was deeply involved with the peasants living on her family's lands, often putting off lavish feasts and such to help knead bread with the local baker. The peasants taught her things not even the most knowledgeable scholar could know—how to tell when someone is lying, how to sense bad weather…and, most importantly, how to fight. You see, the town's blacksmith had once been one of the knights but had retired in old age to the small town where she and Roald's manor was located. Every afternoon since the age of 13 Amarinda would come to the smithy and learn how to parry and dodge, slash and stab.
He life before her brother became king was pretty much uneventful, really…her father died when she was but a girl of nine, and guardianship of Amarinda was passed down to Roald, who was but a boy of 13. She grew up in the lap of luxury, wanting for nothing and truly respecting no one but her brother. She was the first to realize that Roald might be able to snatch the crown, and has helped him overcome not only the obstacle of becoming king but rule his country as well.
* Role Playing Sample:
The king did not much care for balls...but, if it was a chance to gain a bit of love from his subjects, he would of course be all for it. It had not escaped Roald's notice that some of his courtiers and a lot of the servants thought him eccentric or even totally insane. He wore a black silk doublet and matching leggings, perhaps in mourning for the old king, with a plain mask and boots of like colors. His signature golden circlet rested upon his curly, dark-haired head (his locks had been, as usually, been tied back with a midnight ribbon) and it twinkled, restless as it's owner King Roald sat on the throne, his lightly tanned fingers pressed together in a steeple as he silently watched Ambriel, his face unwittingly darkening when he saw her dance with other, less worthy (he assumed) men. He would have fled his perch and raced after the vampire had it not been for the light hand nestled in the crook of his arm, pinning him there without exerting any force whatsoever. The hand and the arm attached to it belonged to one of the few people the new King would trust with his life--his sister Amarinda. The Princess sat at Roald's side, resplendent in a gold taffeta gown with a corset top laced with white ribbon and billowing ivory sleeves. Her straight brown hair, the color of fresh oak bark, was held back in an elaborate bun, tied with the same bondage as her corset top. Her cerulean eyes were also on Ambriel until she left, though, unlike her elder brother's, they were full of not longing but smoldering anger--yes, the Princess knew of her brother's infatuation with this...this floozy!...and she wanted nothing more than to put a stop to it. Something like this could ruin his kingship, and what would happen to Roald and Amarinda then? Death, most likely, most definitely for Roald his not his young sister as well. Amarinda gave her brother a hard look as he made to rise out of his seat to follow Ambriel, and the King reluctantly settled down again. "Rinda...can't I simply go talk to her? I did invite her, and--" "No. That is a maid, Aldie. A maid. Not a princess. Not a duchess. Not even a countess, for heaven's sake! You will sit here for the remainder of the ball, and you will wave and look happy, if it is even possible for you." She rubbed his arm, giving him a faint smile. "Trust me, darling brother...I know what is best."
