The Horses of Valyrn is a wild horse RPG that has some funky twists. ^^

There's no history to the realm, only that there were some spirits (including Jalorix & Selenia --- go explore Valyrn to learn who they are) that got really bored one day and decided to make a world of rainbow-ponies for their own entertainment.

Sound stupid? I swear it's not.
Well, at least, it's not as stupid as some of those other rainbow-pony RPGs out there.
Wait, there aren't any? This is the first you've seen? Oooh.

The thing with THV is that the horses are basically normal, except they can have really abstract markings in whatever color you (the creator) want. Want a chestnut mare with electric-blue flowers on her butt? You got it. Want a black stallion with fire-markings up his legs? Hell yeah!

But how on earth is this interesting?
Aha! You doubt my brilliance? My friends, read on.

The horses tend to ally themselves to others with the same color or pattern of markings. That means that you'll usually see a herd of horses with markings in hues of green (or some other color), or a herd with markings shaped like hearts (or some other pattern). Some are very proud of their markings, but some wish they had another color or pattern. Some herds are weird and accept everyone, no matter what color or pattern, but it's rare. Another rare thing is a horse with regular markings (like socks or a blaze --- regular markings you'd see on a regular horse). Even rarer is a horse with no markings at all! Tsk, tsk. What happens to these poor ponies? They form their own herds, of course. Usually against the Marked Ones, but sometimes you get that pathetic pony who wishes they had a marking.

Kind of like that story about the Sneetches by Dr. Seuss, huh?

In any case, the colors make the herds. Wanna play?

THE WINDSONG WOLVES

» » » » » » » » » » » » » » » » » » »

The land beyond the river isn’t an alien one. The wolf packs are there. The trees are silent, the rain is cool., the snow falls in winter and the grass greens in spring. But amongst the wolves are a few surprises.

When wolves of Windsong find themselves being caged ad carted away to a place known only as the “Sanctuary”, the world changes from a place of safety to a world of fear…and adventure. The captives pace their enclosures, waiting for freedom and learning more and more every day. Between rescued dogs roaming around and even more bizarre inhabitants, such as “exotic” canines seeking haven there, they learn of the world beyond their new “home”…

» » » » » » » » » » » » » » » » » » »

Wolves are being captured by humans, collared, tagged, released…or kept. Pups are being stolen and friends are going missing. But it the humans aren’t the only new threats, or friends it seems.

The Sanctuary, a rescue haven for canines and study center for wolves, takes in wild canines and abandoned ones all the same. The place is over-run with wolves and dogs, with a few coyotes underfoot as well. Occasionally something else appears, such as an “exotic pet” discarded by other humans, or a runaway circus canine like a hyena, perhaps. Their breeding facilities, orphanage, and pens promote research and understanding of the canid world.

The Reservation is human-owned, a place for the “Alpine Pack” to thrive. While they feel they are wild to the bone, this pack is surrounded by walls and observed by their human caretakers, whether they like it or not. They walk the line between being caged and being free, and not everyone is happy with it.

The Outcast Lands are for the packless wolves, the runaways, and the released (or escaped?) Sanctuary inhabitants. Can they find homes before they find destruction, or are they bound to be caught and claimed by the humans?

And the last “free place” is the Wilderness where four packs preside, a mixture of wild wolves, released canines, and even a few rare canids that have found a way to fit in. And while the rival with each other and strive to survive, the constant threat of human interference looms over them.

So the question remains…can anyone survive?

A literate, active community of wolf (and other canine) roleplaying, welcoming new members to our cleaned out and all newly designed site! Come check us out in our version three—Windsong: Between Two Worlds.

Ancient rivalries and undeclared sides… The realms of the magical beings have collided in our modern day, internationally connected world. Most humans are still unsuspecting of what is coming. The humans who know are taking a side.
The Archangels come to defend all that is good. Their goal is to protect the humans from being ‘changed’ or destroyed by vampires, werewolves, and the like.
The ‘monsters’ view the world in a variety of aspects. Some believe the humans should be enslaved. Some believe they should be changed. And some think they should just be left alone. One small, select group of dark minions are forming an organized revolution. They are known as the Underworld.

Humans, elves, drows, werefolk, vampires, Archangels… What side are you on?

 Amarinda {FINISHED}
« Result #10 on May 14, 2007, 6:55am »

* Name: Amarinda
* Species: Human
Age: 25
* Gender: Female
* Alignment: Alinor
* Homeland: Kitar-Ku
Position: Princess

Weapons: She carries a slender, black-leather-handled rapier under her skirts at all times, no matter how uncomfortable that might be. It was handmade for her by the best smith in Alinor and fits the contours of her hand as well as any glove. When wearing trousers (rare, but she has been known to do it) she wears it in an unassuming black leather sheath on her belt.
* Personality: Amarinda, fondly called Rinda by her elder brother Roald, is very much a spitfire. While she is able to keep her emotions hidden remarkably well, she has an unsurpassable temper that makes her seem as touchy as an angry lioness. She has a brilliant political mind, which helps her brother greatly, now more than ever. When Rinda loves, she loves fiercely and will not stand for anything bad to happen to the adored one in question. She has been known to slice heads off for such people, after all…
* Appearance:
While Amarinda is certainly no goddess when beauty is concerned, she is by no means unattractive. She is quite comely, in fact, and, standing at a full height of 5'8 she is able to see most people eye to eye. Speaking of eyes, hers are a beguiling cerulean, with pupils as dark as the night sky. Her face is oval-shaped, with a small, dainty chin, high cheekbones, and a high forehead. Her skin, having been spared the duty of working in the field like a commoner, is a fair peach color, often bedecked by a glorious assortment of glittering jewelry in everything from gold to garnet. To show her high status, she is usually never found without some sort of crown or other on her head. Her hair is several shades lighter than her brothers—a soft, oak-brown, it's long, luxurious length falls to a place not quite to her breasts but far past her shoulders. Her hair is akin to the weather—always changing and never, ever the same if she can help it. Her brown brows are thick and expressive, always being raised and lowered to convey her feelings…if she deigns to show those feelings, of course.

She is often seen in princess-y gowns in various colors—she's been gravitating towards the darker colors lately, however, just like her elder brother.

History:

Only 4 years younger than her brother, the Princess of Alinor was the last child and only daughter of one of the richest border lords in the country. Although her birth ultimately caused her mother Neassa's death (hers was a hard birth, and it weakened her mother so much that she couldn't take the pain of delivering a third child and died some time later), her father and then her brother both pampered her to the level of royalty even before she donned the crown. Like her sibling, she was deeply involved with the peasants living on her family's lands, often putting off lavish feasts and such to help knead bread with the local baker. The peasants taught her things not even the most knowledgeable scholar could know—how to tell when someone is lying, how to sense bad weather…and, most importantly, how to fight. You see, the town's blacksmith had once been one of the knights but had retired in old age to the small town where she and Roald's manor was located. Every afternoon since the age of 13 Amarinda would come to the smithy and learn how to parry and dodge, slash and stab.

He life before her brother became king was pretty much uneventful, really…her father died when she was but a girl of nine, and guardianship of Amarinda was passed down to Roald, who was but a boy of 13. She grew up in the lap of luxury, wanting for nothing and truly respecting no one but her brother. She was the first to realize that Roald might be able to snatch the crown, and has helped him overcome not only the obstacle of becoming king but rule his country as well.

* Role Playing Sample:

The king did not much care for balls...but, if it was a chance to gain a bit of love from his subjects, he would of course be all for it. It had not escaped Roald's notice that some of his courtiers and a lot of the servants thought him eccentric or even totally insane. He wore a black silk doublet and matching leggings, perhaps in mourning for the old king, with a plain mask and boots of like colors. His signature golden circlet rested upon his curly, dark-haired head (his locks had been, as usually, been tied back with a midnight ribbon) and it twinkled, restless as it's owner
King Roald sat on the throne, his lightly tanned fingers pressed together in a steeple as he silently watched Ambriel, his face unwittingly darkening when he saw her dance with other, less worthy (he assumed) men. He would have fled his perch and raced after the vampire had it not been for the light hand nestled in the crook of his arm, pinning him there without exerting any force whatsoever.
The hand and the arm attached to it belonged to one of the few people the new King would trust with his life--his sister Amarinda.
The Princess sat at Roald's side, resplendent in a gold taffeta gown with a corset top laced with white ribbon and billowing ivory sleeves. Her straight brown hair, the color of fresh oak bark, was held back in an elaborate bun, tied with the same bondage as her corset top. Her cerulean eyes were also on Ambriel until she left, though, unlike her elder brother's, they were full of not longing but smoldering anger--yes, the Princess knew of her brother's infatuation with this...this floozy!...and she wanted nothing more than to put a stop to it. Something like this could ruin his kingship, and what would happen to Roald and Amarinda then? Death, most likely, most definitely for Roald his not his young sister as well.
Amarinda gave her brother a hard look as he made to rise out of his seat to follow Ambriel, and the King reluctantly settled down again. "Rinda...can't I simply go talk to her? I did invite her, and--"
"No. That is a maid, Aldie. A maid. Not a princess. Not a duchess. Not even a countess, for heaven's sake! You will sit here for the remainder of the ball, and you will wave and look happy, if it is even possible for you." She rubbed his arm, giving him a faint smile. "Trust me, darling brother...I know what is best."
